Our Family CFO™ Service has similar responsibilities to that of a CFO in a business. Our Process

Our approach to financial planning is simple yet effective, developed from time-tested strategies that address complex challenges and deliver peace of mind. The Bucket Plan Process we use focuses on protecting and growing your assets for lifelong financial security and a lasting legacy. Together, we determine what you need to feel financially comfortable now, identify the short-term financial goals you want to achieve soon, and work toward a vision for your long-term financial future, making an impact in your lifetime and beyond.

Step 1 Complimentary Consultation

The fact that there is no charge for this initial “get acquainted” meeting does not mean that it has no purpose or that no effort is put into its preparation – quite the contrary. It is during this meeting that we mutually determine crossing bridges and whether there is a basis for connecting paths or working together. Our objective is to determine whether we can actually assist you in meeting your goals and objectives or in alleviating any significant financial challenges.

Step 2 Discovery Meeting

During this meeting, our professional staff gathers and reviews with you all of your financial data and questionnaires.

We conduct a thorough review of all pertinent documents, e.g., investment statements, insurance annual statements and policies, tax returns, estate planning documents, retirement plan information, business agreements, etc. Our objective is to ask clarifying questions and to prioritize those issues most important to you.

Step 3 Plan Presentation

During this meeting, we present your comprehensive, written Financial Plan, and Investment Policy Statement. This written analysis will address every area of concern and provide specific recommendations to assist you in attaining your stated goals and objectives. We also provide a written implementation schedule prioritized by client objectives entering anticipated dates of implementation and the names of parties responsible, for example: client, planner, or staff.

Step 4 Plan Review & Implementation

Within ten days of your Plan Presentation meeting, we review the plan in whatever detail is necessary to have you become both completely comfortable with it and confident that our recommended solutions and strategies address your stated objectives. We answer any and all questions that you have about our recommendations or analyses, no matter how small.

Step 5 45-Day Meeting – The Follow Up

Within two weeks of your Plan Review and Implementation Meeting, we recap everything that has happened thus far, everything that is in progress, and everything that has yet to occur, and our staff completely organizes your binder to keep you on track with what’s important. We address the written implementation schedule and check off what is accomplished, modify dates or other information as necessary and keep you moving forward.

Step 6 Regular Annual Review Meetings

  1. We conduct a comprehensive review of your complete investment portfolio including assets not managed by us, 401K plans, variable annuities, mutual funds or brokerage accounts, etc.
  2. We revisit your written Investment Policy Statements for any managed accounts with an eye toward making written modifications, if necessary. Our focus is long-term, which usually requires only minor adjustments.
  3. We review insurance and protection issues which we have audited based on your insurance coverage needs.
  4. We review any tax-loss harvesting opportunities which we have analyzed for all non-qualified accounts, managed and unmanaged.
  5. We also conduct an estate and retirement plan review by updating asset values, reviewing beneficiaries, and updating financial projections. In between visits, we consult with any professionals on your team such as tax advisors and attorneys.
